How To Use Quora For Affiliate Marketing?

From my dealings with Quora its main function is a question and answer website where questions are asked, answered, and edited by other users in the shape of opinions.

Users can participate by editing questions and suggesting edits the answers that have been introduced by other users.

In this post we will learn how to use Quora for affiliate marketing leveraging.

What Is Quora

Two Billion:

By May 2019, Quora was appraised at $2 billion as a company and it was finalizing a $60 million investment round, which was led by Valor Equity Partners, a private equity firm with ties to Tesla, Inc. and SpaceX.

In spite of this, the site still showed very few ads compared to other sites of its kind and the company was still struggling to turn a substantial profit, having only made $20 million in revenue in 2018.

Several investors moved on from the opportunity to invest in Quora, citing the company’s “poor track record of actually making money.”

Schleifer identified the disparity between Quora’s valuation as a company and its actual profits as a result of “the high valuation for virtually everything these days in the tech sector.”

Similar To Wikipedia:

Quora is similar to Wikipedia and AskJeeves, also a social platform similar the Facebook.

Considering these guys were from Facebook no big surprise.

Basically people ask questions and get answers from other users on the platform. Good answers can be,

Upvoted and climb the top of the site; some are even spotlighted in the Quora Digest, a daily newsletter that is sent the other users.

On the flip side Quora has downvotes, follows, shares and comments. Quora has a blog platform the help users become authors.

So why use Quora for affiliate marketing.

Like any social media platform it gives you exposure the like-minded individual.

These are a few of the ways Quora can be leveraged to your advantage.

Expert In Your Niche:

When you are a newbie in any niche you need to establish your credential as an expert in your chosen field.

Quora can help you become that expert you so desire.

Becoming a member of Quora is straight forward no jumping through hoops.

Provide your name, email and password on the site and your good the go.

The option of linking your Facebook, Google or Twitter account and transfer the information from there.

All this sounds easy of course these guys are not silly.

They were once Facebook employees who made it on their own.

You will then fill your profile page which can include your bio, including your occupation, education, geographic residences.

You can also add your areas of relevant knowledge. Depending on chosen topics you choose, you can follow other users in your niche.

Quora will individualize your news feed and go through different layers of relevant notifications you choose to receive.

When your profile is completed, you can grow your mastery on Quora by looking for and answering questions within your chosen niche.

You may also want the blog about niche related topics.

As your answers are posted, users will either upvote, downvote, comment on or share the content.

Your answers will feature your profile photo and bio, a good answer from you in your niche will raise your authority and number of followers.

If you post your affiliate website URL or other information on Quora, users may go there for more information.

This may lead the traffic.

Upvotes

Generate Traffic:

Obviously one of the hardest issues for affiliate marketers is generating traffic to your website blog.

Utilizing Quora blogs can be added directly to your bio by editing it.

This will generate visitors to your niche website and products and you in particular.

Google is starting the take notice of Quora as search results answers are turning up on first page results.

To gain traffic to your Quora profile, you can promote your profile by linking to your social media accounts, blog posts, other content and posts, and even recycled articles.

The best way for traffic generation will be the answers that you post the questions submitted about your chosen niche.

Look for questions with the least answers as you will have more chance of getting a response from that page.

Best to look out for answers and fresh questions that have a lot of up votes on them.

When you do this, you can answer them and then link back to your own Quora blog or website for more information.

The aim in the end is to get all that traffic back to you.

Wonderful World Of Quora

The Quora Partner Program FAQ:

There is no limit to the money you can make from the Quora partner program.

That’s the first question in their FAQ, and it’s plainly stated.

Providing you can ask questions that meet their minimum standards and get answers of a high quality you’ll get paid.

How do you get paid? Right now, Quora is connected with Stripe, and nothing else.

You are unable to get paid by cheque or PayPal, Stripe is the only way you will be paid.

You don’t have to join up an account right away, but once you have earned $5 from your questions, you’ll be given the option to do so.

However, you aren’t issued a payment until you’ve reached up to $10.

When your account reaches $10, you will be sent that money each month.

What can happen is a lot of accounts are going to start up at first, ask a few questions, earn a few dollars, and never reach the pay out amount required.

This is the nature of minimum payments, that they may never be paid out.

The Quora Partner Program is invite-only.

You can’t apply to join it, you just need to use the site and get invited. People who are invited can’t invite other people as of yet,

Quora partner program is only open to residents of the U.S. who are eligible to work in the country, and it’s only available in the English-language sections of the site.

Quora Partner Compensation:

How does Quora work out how much to pay, and what do they pay for?

First of all, Quora only pays for asked questions.

You cannot earn money by answering questions, presumably because they know a ton of people are already just using the site to shill their own businesses.

There’s no sense in paying people to use your platform for advertising, that’s just not how it works.

How much does Quora pay? They won’t say.

What they do say is that “Questions are compensated based on how well-answered they are and how many people find them interesting.”

Anonymous asks don’t count. Since you ask a question anonymously, it’s not joined to your account, and thus Quora won’t be able to credit your account with the question.

It’s also worth noting that you only earn on questions for four weeks.

You can’t build up lifetime value on questions, because you only make money for the first month after you ask them.

This is yet another way that Quora is exploiting their community.

They motivate users to ask good questions and foster as much worth as feasible and as quickly as possible.

This then makes those posts rank well in Google for those subjects, boosting Quora as a whole.

They can then keep monetizing those questions after they stop paying you, and rake in more value overall.

Content Generation:

Content generation is relatively easy for someone who has a fresh blog or website and a head full of great ideas.

Six months down the road, those great ideas have been exhausted and the impetus the keep blogging is long dissipated.

That’s when Quora excels. Because the site enables you the input questions and have them pre-filled with suggestions (much like Google search) prior the completion of your inquiry, you can obtain lots of content ideas.

Keep Calm And Quora On

Conclusion:

Quora has easy access to social media platforms which makes it a great way to generate traffic to your site.

You should include Quora in your marketing efforts.

At least you will have access to a community of specific niche experts applicable to your blog.

It’s also much easier the become a Quora contributor than a Wikipedia contributor, and the use of Quora to promote your business.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this post or this site in general.

  1. That’s a very informative article about Quora. I really learned a couple of things that I wasn’t aware of.

I have heard about several affiliate marketers using quora for traffic but I never considered it a good idea until a few days later when I searched for a keyword in Google and the first 2 results were Quora posts.

However, within your article, you didn’t really lay down an actual process of using Quora for traffic :/

    • Hello Harry,

Thank You for reading my article.

Sorry it didn’t make it clear on how to get traffic. Basically you just have to participate in asking and answering questions.

If people vote for your post and like your post you can build some expertise in your niche. Like any platform you have to constantly engage with the site to get traffic.

It will take time to build up traffic with Quora as it will with any site.

      Regards Shane.

  2. Awesome Shane!

I would have never thought of using Quora, that’s a brilliant plan! I use it often to ask questions especially on websites but I never knew the partner program existed, wow! I think it makes them exclusive to make it an invite-only because there are so many spammers there. Have you ever been offered by Quora to be part of their partners?

    • Hello Riaz,

Thank You for reading my article.

Happy to hear you liked my post.

I live Australia and the partner program is only availble to US citzens at this stage.

      Regards Shane.

  3. This is interesting. I had no idea about Quora. Does is work as well as just having your own blog or better? I have used Quora in the past to find answers to some questions but I had no idea how it worked. How long do you thing it takes until you start generating a lot of traffic in your niche? And what do you think the most effective niches are?

    • Hello Mario,

hank You for the questions about Quora. Providing you are a resident of the US you are able to join there partner program and make some money.

Having your own blog is best and just use Quora like any social media platforms such as Facebook to help you establish your expertise in your niche. The most popular niches are health & fitness, and money making sites.

You have to remember there will be alot of competition making it harder to get noticed. Better to find a niche you are interested in and hope it is less competive .

      Regards Shane.

  4. Do they have plans to open the Quora Partner Program to other English-speaking countries like the Philippines?

This has renewed my interest in Quora. I have an account with them but inactive as of the present because I’m busy with my own blog. But after I read your article, my interest was renewed and I want to be active again with the site. Before the existence of sites like this, I was a forum guy who have gained my initial online followers via forum participation so I think I have a future participating with Quora.

    • Hello Gomer,

Thank You for reading my post and your question.

At this stage the partner program is only available in the US.

Not sure when the rest of the world will be able to participate.

      Regards Shane

  5. You just helped me see Quora in a different light. I was not sure what it was when I would somehow land on it. I didn’t think it was a high quality site, seemed a bit shady for the few minutes I might of hopped on it from somewhere else.

But having an interest in the internet marketing field, it is something I will be looking closer into.

    Easy to read, nice layout.

    • Hello Cindy,

Thank You for reading my article.

I to was unsure about Quora myself. That was one of the reasons i wrote this article to better understand there platform.

Happy you were able to get something out of this post.

      Regards Shane.

  6. Hi, Shane.  This is something I have heard of. However, I’m a little sad that it’s only available to those in the U.S.  Are there any plans to expand into other parts of the world?  Could be a great way for them to improve their bottom profit line.

That part about only earning on questions for four weeks while they get to keep monetizing those questions after they stop paying you?  That doesn’t seem quite right.  By asking questions, I am providing content for Quora that becomes theirs after 4 weeks?  Is this explained in their “terms of agreement”?  Or… maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

That aside, I do like the idea of being able to use Quora as a way to get traffic to my sites because we all want more traffic.  I will have to look into this further especially if it becomes available in my country.

    Wayne

    • Hello Wayne,

Thank You for reading my article.

I have no answer on whether they will expand there partner program outside of the US.

The four week availabilty to earn question you asked, is correct it is there policy.

At this stage i would only be using the site to get traffic as i live outside the US myself.

      Regards Shane.

  7. Wow!! This is amazing ! I never knew about Quora ! I have a yoga blog and I would love to  sign up to get my questions answered as well as see the answers from other intelligent individuals. I get excited to know that Quora allows me to become the expert in my own niche that’s mind blowing!

    How can I sign up?

Thank you for this wonderful post! I get extremely excited when I learn new opportunities for advancement.

    Thank you

    • Hello Yoga Queen,

Thank You for taking the time to read my post.

Happy to hear you were able to get some helpful information about Quora.

To participate in the Quora partnership program, is invite only and you must be a US citzen at this stage.

You can still build up a following by participating in asking and answering questions.
